Ingredients:

  • 700 g beef, cubed
  • 2 large onions, chopped
  • 2 tbsp lard or oil
  • 2 tbsp Hungarian sweet paprika
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 carrots, sliced
  • 2 potatoes, cubed
  • 1 tomato, chopped
  • 1 green pepper, chopped
  • 1 tsp caraway seeds
  • 1.5 liters beef broth or water
  • Salt and black pepper

Instructions:

  1. Heat lard or oil in a large pot.
  2. Add onions and cook until golden.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in paprika.
  4. Add beef and coat well.
  5. Return to heat and cook for 5 minutes.
  6. Add garlic, tomato, green pepper, and caraway seeds.
  7. Pour in broth and simmer for 1 hour.
  8. Add carrots and potatoes.
  9. Continue cooking for 30–40 minutes until the meat and vegetables are tender.
  10. Season with salt and pepper.

Serve hot with crusty bread. 🍲🇭🇺
